Carey was almost 5'10 tall at the time she was a high-end model. Her popularity among American fashion designers Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren was high. In 1979 the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists voted the father of her Scientist of the Year. Carey is a resident of across the globe because of his work. Following her graduation from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, she began modeling on the side. This caught the eye of an agent at Ford Model Agency New York. She studied full-time at New York University, obtaining her degree in literature between modeling assignments. As she studied acting at Neighborhood Playhouse, New York, her interest in acting increased. In 1986 she made her first appearance in acting with a minor character as a minor character in "Club Paradise" in the film "Club Paradise" with Robin Williams. She loves rock climbing as well as skiing and windsurfing.
